Joel Artista's unique street paintings can be found from Brooklyn to the shanty towns of Kenya; from Syrian refugee camps in the Middle East to the favelas of Brazil and beyond. He works closely with some of the most marginalized communities on earth, leading workshops with youth that focus on social action and the creation of public art. His aesthetic reflects influences as diverse as current street art and graffiti styles, Mexican Muralism and the traditional art forms of tribal peoples from around the world. Joel works in spray paint, acrylic, mosaic and stencils. His work has been widely covered by the international media, including Al Jazeera, National Public Radio (NPR), Reuters, Voice of America, Agence-France Presse (AFP), and many more.
